Ok, it’s not really a Bat Cycle in the Batman sense, but it’s certainly unusual. This is the Uno, invented by Ben J. Poss Gulak. It’s a gyrostabilized motorcycle with the wheels side-by-side. It seems very much like the Segway, and it also operates by leaning, but there’s no question about which device is waaay cooler than the other.
The Uno has its own website, which is very sparse at this point. If you want the whole story of its development you can read it at MotorcycleMojo.com, although they will make you pay them for a PDF version of the magazine for the whole thing. Pictures are viewable for free.
I want one! Too bad it’s a one-off at this point. As a special bonus it would only take up half the space in my garage compared to my current motorcycles....
RandomnessWhoa, that’s pretty weird-looking! Can’t imagine how it would feel to ride. When you stop, does it just stay balanced upright like that?
It’s gyrostabilized so yes, it would. I think as a motorcycle it might be more interesting if it only had one wheel, though, and I question its stability in turns since it is obvious the wheel pair isn’t articulated to allow the bike to lean (like the Piaggio three-wheel scooters). It’s a really neat design concept in any case.
